so, I’ve wanted to do this bargello for my bedroom and I’ve got one third of it done (as of Saturday). I’m SOOO loving how it is turning out. While the process of a bargello is easy, it’s very boring and more so doing a queen size top. But I keep thinking in the end it will be so worth the effort.
Hoping to have it finished by end of April, so my quilter can have it done by end of May. I plan to paint my room and some furniture to complete the ocean/beach feel. I already named this quilt as “Tranquil Moments”.

I’m sure it will be worth it. I remember seeing a King-size bargello quilt at the Vermont Quilt Festival many years ago. At the time, I thought about how I never see large bargello quilts. I think you answered the question of why not.

It’s just boring to make. There’s no “ah-ah” moment of excitement like you get when you finish a one challenging block. Though finishing this section is an exciting accomplishment, it took weeks and time to get this far. Thanks for stopping by.

THis will be a striking accent to build around in the bedroom…very lovely. I too, used the beach theme in my sewing room but added some fern green to it….love that color combo!

I like it! I started one 20 years ago in country blues and creams-so far it’s only about 4 inches wide, lol. Maybe someday I’ll finish it. Keep working on it–you give me hope.

I love it! I made a small wallhanging bargello a few years ago. It turned out well, but I agree, the process was boring. I also found the amount of pinning required to get the thing to line up tedious. I’m not sure if I’ll ever do a big one. I may make one someday for the wall, though.

LOL…well the picture doesn’t show it well, but there are several pieces of fabric with sea shells in them 🙂
I’m not pinning, being the space between each seam is 2″, I’m just paying attention as it is going under the needle and making sure my seams are embedded. Easier enough, just a slow process!
