Cottage Swap

It’s that time of month again, when we receive our cottage in our monthly swap.  This month was my turn to mail out blocks.  Here’s what I came up with:

Everyone’s is a little different with a face in the window.  I had a good time doing these, it helped me get back into my sewing area.

Here are my previous blocks received (Sept, August, July, June, May) :

Cottages BOM Swap

I totally did not share my newest block from Ms. Cindy!  Again, I’m participating in a monthly swap with the cottage blocks by Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville) and I have October (imagine that!).  We started in May and I have 3 blocks now.

My latest one from Cindy definitely symbolizes July well:

And my May Block from Mary in MN:

I can’t wait to see all 12 months!

I have soo much to share…

and have been trying to catch up on simple things around my house.  Seems like I haven’t found time for catching up.

Trying to do laundry now, trying to organize my sewing space at the same time, and sending out May birthday cards.

I had a wonderful birthday last week!  First my son surprised me with his girlfriend – we don’t get to see her too often, so it was such a nice surprise and she got me hooked on the Tudors!!

Then on Wednesday I had dinner at the Green Turtle in Mt. Airy and was joined by several friends throughout the duration.

Cheryl presented me with my own birthday cake (evil woman she is):

Needless to say, my kids helped me eat all those bad things!

Then I went to Bunco with Pam and her fun friends and won the Bunco pot of $36….sweet!!   Needless to say, it ended my birthday on a high note….but not to end the celebration too soon, my friend Stacie came up for Saturday night and we drank wine, watched the 2nd season of the Tudors (which she got me for my bday gift) and just talked.   What a week!!!!

I also received my Miniature Booty 3 Swap from Norway!  Laila has incredible craftsmanship!  I’m soo in love with all the items I received from her.  She is highly talented and I feel honored she agreed to be my partner!  I haven’t hung it up yet, still need to clean the wall it will hang on in my kitchen, but here’s the booty:

My booty will be on it’s way tomorrow to it’s new home.  I can’t show a picture because it’s so specific, it would give it away ;)

I work today, but tomorrow and Thursday I plan to focus on my sewing space and get things packed for the deep reorganization that will happen.  It’s going to be crazy and awhile before I sew on my machine again, but I have all my prep work done on my latest hexagon piece and started basting the little suckers last night…so easy to do while I’m watching TV :)

Halloween Swapping Anyone??

Thanks to Amy to mentioning this swap….well, I dunno now I have more things to do — but I love Halloween and Fall, so I joined this swap. If you are interested, sign up!!

A Challenge with a prize….

I know I haven’t given something away in a longgggg time and ya know after reading Kate’s blog again and her periodical give aways, it dawned on me I still have a HUGE blue rubbermaid tub of wonderful stuff (that I have no use for) to still offer up…..along with that thought and seeing everyone one receiving their Four Season Summer Swap Quilts, it dawned on me — exactly how do folks display their little quilts.

Well, I have shown mine before and I have seen a few others, but now a year later and seeing familiar names in the same little quilt swaps going on, I know we all have collected quite a few. So, again here are mine (again).

Quilts I have made for swaps:

Quilts I have received from swaps (and a few extras as gifts):

How I display them: My sewing area is about 22′ x 15′. There is a house support beam that runs in the middle of my area. On one side there is wire with hanger clips and on the other side I had originally put up a curtain rod to divide the room. Well, we added curtain hooks to it and it is not starting to collect quilts on it as well.

And one quiltlet hangs over my cutting area to inspire me (it was made by Bren):

So, here the challenge, write a post with the following:

  • Show pictures of all the quilts you have made for swaps (in the past 12 months)
  • Show pictures of all the quilts you have received from swaps (in the past 12 months)
  • Finally, explain and show how your display them

Next, come back here leave a comment so I can view your post and add you into the pool of lucky people to be drawn from.

The lucky winner will get this:

A bag of buttons, 28-5″ Charm pack and a Me & My Sisters Designs Summer Tea Pattern CD

I’ll give everyone a two weeks to complete and draw a winner Sunday, August 31st. Show off your quilts!

My Summer Swap

have arrived in Australia!  So, I can show it off now.  Its recipant is Ms. Kate and she likes it —whew, I was really concerned:

And I’m almost done with my Surf & Sand project…and Amy the pattern is found here.

And I finished another DJ block….trying to do one a day…we’ll see how long this last :)

I’m a nut….

go on and just say it…..

I purchased fabric yesterday of a new Halloween line.  I used the pattern from Clothworks (who makes the line, Midnight Mischief) and got enough fabric to “whip” up a top.

Got home yesterday from work and errands around 6:15, made dinner, ate, played on the computer then proceeded to cut out fabric….by 9:15 I have 50% of the top done.  Started sewing again at 7:00 am and just finished it:

Needless to say, I’m tickled!!  I’m going to bring it to work for a shop sample and quilt it later, but it’s done and too cute.  It’s about 48″ x 50″.  Here’s a close up:

I guess I can shower now and get ready for work, huh??

I also hung up my Verry Purple Little Quilt (it’s new name) on my wire of quilts (please ignore the cobwebs–I’m short and they don’t get cleared out but once a year):

Have a good day!
