The Full Pirate Booty Story. . .

I have been requested to show all my booty….especially from Houston, so I have added a new gallery of just my shopping. You can check it out here.

I have so many pictures to share, I might have to post several times today. . .

I’m now officially a guild member (though in our area, most folks belong to 3 or more guilds) of the Four County Quilt Guild. It was the least I could do after winning soo much stuff last night. I got a first time visitor gift (fq) and a door prize drawing (2 fq) and won 3 lots in a brown bag raffle. Talk about BOOTY….(I still claim they didn’t shuffle the bags up enough).

Inside the little wooden box was a treasure chest of pins and other collectible items, including the original owner’s guild name tag and card. Kinda sad as well. The items were donated by her family to the guild. Also in this booty was four small quilts, a binder full of patterns, rulers/mats, knick-knacks and lots of fabric. I have sorted through it all and have found many gifts I’ll give this holiday season and Project Linus donations.

Now pictures from over the weekend at the shop. Picture of my co-workers (Joyce, Carolyn, Sharon, Me, & Juliana):

And the final count of blocks for the Quilt Pink project. I need to make a few more to make a larger quilt.

I’ll post more pictures later….I’ve been sewing this week…sorta.

Random thoughts….and pictures….

Just an fyi, for Manic Monday winners from last week – I have yet to mail out those winnings and probably won’t mail them til next week, ok? All other Manic Monday winnings are mailed out! As for all the Toni Home Shopping Network folks, all yours were mailed already, so keep your eyes on the mail box by week’s end :D

Did I mention my new PINK computer….ya know I really don’t like pink or red, but they didn’t offer Lime Green or Purple…darn Dell. So, I’m hip now with my laptop and mouse and even my cell phone all the same pink color…seee….

I’m at home today playing catch up….seems like I do that a lot on Wednesday’s….shoot I forgot about my Wordless Wednesday post…need to do that one as well – I was hoping to post a picture of my complete Autumn swap quilt (that I used in last week’s WW) but the recipient still hasn’t received it.

I’m off the next 2 days and I want to complete a top, get something done off my UFO pile. Still unsure what, but I’ll pull things out here shortly.

I did make blocks for Quilt Pink and took them into the shop – I might have to make more now, we have only 5 total and I would like at least 12 to make a nice size lap quilt. Need to take pictures of what we have right now.

Time to put on some sewing music.

Monday Show & Tell

I have again pictures to share…YAH!! We love pictures – well I do anyway! :D
Thanks for all the input on the last post regarding postage, I feel much better about the whole thing!

Let’s see….first Quilt Pink Blocks. Our shop received the first blocks from a lj community member, Joanne (user name sewingjo in ljland). My boss (whom I forgot to mention these were coming her way) was taken by surprised and more so when I brought in the another block that Karol-Ann made for Quilt Pink.

If you are willing to participate, please send a block, 12 1/2″ unfinished to our shop. I’m the one in charge of piecing together a top and my boss will longarm quilt the quilt to donate to Quilt Pink. You can mail blocks directly to Patches, by October 31, 2007:

Joanne’s blocks are the ones on the outside of the maple leaf block. The block on the left is called a Boxed Pinwheel and the one on the right is called Grandmothers Cross. The Maple Leaf was done of course by Karol-Ann. I’m working on mine today. I picked out 6 fabrics to make a few (notice the stack of pink fabrics on the cutting table)!

I received my Four Season Swap Quilt on Saturday and I’m soo in love with it. It was created by Teresa from Wales (how cool is that) and was concerned the new owner of her quilt wouldn’t love it….I SOOOOOO love it.

I’m itching to post my finally pictures of my quilt which is on its way to its new owner, hopefully later this week I can share those images. I’m wish I could keep it, I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Well my witches & kitties are sashed together now. I think I finally decided on a simple orange border with lime binding. Now to see if by some miracle I can get this quilted within the next 3 weeks.

And finally a picture from the shop, the “brights” corner.

Manic Monday post will be done later this afternoon – need to draw last week’s winners and take pictures for the offering this week! :D

Quilting News….

first, I’m very surprised that I didn’t read this sooner or that any other quilter might have mentioned this, but Laurel Burch died on September 13. Very sad news for the quilt world. Read more here: http://blog.fabshopnet.com/?p=199 and her website: www.laurelburch.com

second, this weekend LQS hosted Quilt Pink. I’m very disappointed that even when we had advertised it as a shop participant, not one customer came in to make a block. The shop is accepting 12 1/2″ unfinished blocks until the end of October though. And from what I understand we had only a few people last year who showed up, but had enough blocks coming in from customers outside of the weekend to make up 4 lap quilts for donation. It’s a worth while cause, only takes an hour to whip up a 12″ block and pop it into the mail – we all have pink/white stash we can use. Please consider donating a little time for a very good caused.
