Poopers Beans….

I totally missed the Doll Swap III sign ups…they really cut back on the number this year, down to 50.  I’m soooooooooo bummed.  It was my first swap on blogland where I created an entire mini quilt for a stranger.  I have been swapping online over 10 years with quilting, but not with a completed quilt.  I love this kind of swap and continue to participate on another similar swap (notice my left side bar) called the Four Seasons Quilt Swap.

I have also hosted many swaps through out the years, and ponder on doing it for one of these kinds of swaps.  My concern would be the interest.  Would you be interested in participating in a swap like this?  If I can get at least 14 interested participants, I will go ahead and set up a swap for a mini quilt.

Guidelines would be: quilts no larger than 18″, 6 weeks to complete, one on one swap, completed with binding and label,  international swappers.

What say you?

wait…I have more to share….and it involves pictures

I’m soo rude and I apologize to Linda and Margaret for not saying anything until now. But I received my Winter Four Season Swap quilt this weekend…..I love it!!! Linda didn’t have to make this for me, but I feel so grateful for her kindness and I thought this is soo close to mine, I don’t have to make my own now :D What do you think?

Here’s a preview of what I’m going to use in my new Four Season Swap….and it’s soo soft and fuzzy and out of my box. It involves hand work, so it will be a challenge for me.

And for those out there doing the Civil War Love Letter Quilt, here are my 2 new blocks. Both are 9″ and done with paper piecing. Again, working on 3 more. First one is Jersey Boys on page 96 and the other is Sweet & Gentle Disposition on page 248.

Sci-fi Friday. . .

do you have one evening where you just love watching tv? I don’t tend to watch a lot, I love to dvr Super Natural, CSI and watch them on the weekends, but Friday nights on Sci-Fi I love watching til 11 pm! So, again it’s sci-fi friday and enjoying my evening shows. I can’t wait for Dr. Who to start back up!

I’m doing some quilty related things tomorrow, dropping off a quilt to be quilted with a new person. The quilt is the one I plan to give to my sister. While I do have many tops to quilt, I’m only doing one first to see how well this longarmer does. She is already busy and told me she will fit me in into April…..le sigh. I understand longarmers are far and few in between and highly busy, but I would love to find a good quality one that has an average of 3-4 weeks turn around. My tops are stacking and I would love some completed quilts this year.

Finalizing plans for the weekend in NC – 2 more weeks! Have 3 others joining me on the ride – should be a blast and relaxing and productive. I plan to cut and make lists this weekend to prepare. I’m thinking 3-4 projects to piece, planning on finishing at least one! What is the one thing you would take on a retreat (besides the obvious sewing machine)?

I promise to take a picture of the new hair this weekend…I don’t take very good self portraits, but maybe I should try?

Did I ever share the full view of this?

The lucky recipient was Paula and she received it several weeks ago. I am still hopeful to receive something from this swap. There was some confusion in my partner and the hostess is trying to get mine to me. I’m being patient, but some times it’s so hard and I keep searching my mail box for something.

I have no other pictures to share today – it’s been a long week, especially with working late 2 nights in a row. At least I have the weekend off -WOO HOO. I hope to do a lot of quilty stuff!

another project done. . .

the Four Seasons “Winter” Swap is done. It will be on its way to its new owner tomorrow. Not showing it all, but I again wish I had made it for myself.

Now what to play with before I go to work and host our first Embroidery Club….

One thing, I detest the most

about the quilting process…is the cutting…ugh. I spent a couple hours today just cutting out for 3 BOM from Stars Around the Garden (I have a meeting this weekend) and designing and cutting out for my Winter Seasonal Swap project.

I really was clueless where to start on this project, I had ideas back in December, but apparently they got fried along with my brain :D I purchased a lot of silver and blue fabric (which is VERY hard to find btw) during December and this was the perfect opportunity to use it. So, does this look like winter to you?

(just a teaser picture….)

It will be 16″ x 16″ when completed. I’m debating if I want to add any embellishments or appliqués, but I hope to have it all sewn together tomorrow.

Four Seasons Autumn Swap

The recipient received her quilt and so I can show it off now, I’m very tickled how it turned out and almost kept it for myself…..almost.

I’m so glad Julia enjoyed it. I added a flange to separate the busy-ness of the border and made sure to use lots of my fall fabric I have collected over the years.

Next swap project, my secret santa. I so enjoy doing this little quilts!

Monday Show & Tell

I have again pictures to share…YAH!! We love pictures – well I do anyway! :D
Thanks for all the input on the last post regarding postage, I feel much better about the whole thing!

Let’s see….first Quilt Pink Blocks. Our shop received the first blocks from a lj community member, Joanne (user name sewingjo in ljland). My boss (whom I forgot to mention these were coming her way) was taken by surprised and more so when I brought in the another block that Karol-Ann made for Quilt Pink.

If you are willing to participate, please send a block, 12 1/2″ unfinished to our shop. I’m the one in charge of piecing together a top and my boss will longarm quilt the quilt to donate to Quilt Pink. You can mail blocks directly to Patches, by October 31, 2007:

Joanne’s blocks are the ones on the outside of the maple leaf block. The block on the left is called a Boxed Pinwheel and the one on the right is called Grandmothers Cross. The Maple Leaf was done of course by Karol-Ann. I’m working on mine today. I picked out 6 fabrics to make a few (notice the stack of pink fabrics on the cutting table)!

I received my Four Season Swap Quilt on Saturday and I’m soo in love with it. It was created by Teresa from Wales (how cool is that) and was concerned the new owner of her quilt wouldn’t love it….I SOOOOOO love it.

I’m itching to post my finally pictures of my quilt which is on its way to its new owner, hopefully later this week I can share those images. I’m wish I could keep it, I’m very happy with how it turned out!

Well my witches & kitties are sashed together now. I think I finally decided on a simple orange border with lime binding. Now to see if by some miracle I can get this quilted within the next 3 weeks.

And finally a picture from the shop, the “brights” corner.

Manic Monday post will be done later this afternoon – need to draw last week’s winners and take pictures for the offering this week! :D
