Just to give the readers a brief oversight on how this ledger came about.
I have been quilting on and off for over 15 years now. Over the past 8 years I have done many things, online groups and ventures with quilting. The result was overspending, over stocking supplies, projects and miscellaneous notions. So, as I have sorted through my life over the past year and I rediscovered my love and interest in this art form on a more “zen” level for me.
I started in June 2006 with a UFO list of over 100 items and removed ALL my stash out of my house (of course gave it to good causes). I have continued to weed through my UFO’s and stash over the past year (even with the challenge of getting a job at my local quilt shop).
The idea for this blog’s theme is my love for being a pirate. I think it’s a fantasy I love to throw caution to the wind and being blunt outside myself. I remember in 9th grade doing the Pirates of Penance on stage and discovering The Pirate Movie (not a high quality flick, but one a lonely teenager loves to daydream too) started my pirating fantasies.
I discovered a new culture with Renaissance Faires and found a new home to play and dress up like a pirate! My home faire is Maryland, but I have visited and traveled to many other ports on the East Coast. I even now belong to a ship with a fun crew. It’s all for socializing with and meeting new people.
I decided to combine my too loves into this ledger. I was stuck by another quilter’s comment about most quilting blogs are “blah”, not humorous or too serious. So, my goal to you the reader it to chart my travels with a sense of pirate jargon and hopefully humor you along the way.
When I’m not ripping out stitches, I’m mom to 4 (2 in college, 1 high school, 1 6th grader), married over 20 years to a retire air force man and mom of 3 kitties and one puppy dog. I currently work 4 days out of the week at my local quilt shop teaching classes, doing their website, and fondling fabric on a regular basis.
So, sit back enjoy and please be an active reader. I encourage suggestions, ideas, and praises. Comments are booty for us blogging pirates at heart.

I never realized how much piracy and quilting have in common! Actually I too, love to attend the Renaissance Festival although mine is in Texas. My hubby and I dress up every year and I have several patterns for “someday” costumes. Your blog is very cool and I plan to add you to my own blogroll. Thanks for sharing your quilting pirate adventures. (I just remembered I just watched Pirates of the Carribean last night.)

Giggle…I was looking over your blog and for some reason I had missed this post! Pirates are cool! I love to read historical romance novels and my favorites are the ones with Pirates in them. I think they are sooooo cool. When my oldest son was about 4 he said he wanted to be a Pirate when he grew up. He just loved Pirates and at that time the toys were hard to find. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your blog and I enjoy the friendship that we have.
